The Empshott Hut is an eccentric and much loved wooden meeting hall dating from the 1920s. It has been the scene of many amateur dramatics, concerts, dancing, feasting and much more.
The Hut has only very basic facilities, and to enable us to make best use of it we need to add modern WCs and a small kitchen. This means adding an extension of about 6m x 5m onto the end of the existing building.
There is also a real problem with car parking, and to ease this we hope to build a small area of hard-standing next to the hut to accomodate 3 cars. It's a start!
We are conscious that those with disabilities find it hard to access the Hut, so our plans also include wheelchair access from the road, and a WC for disabled access.
All in all it's a recipe for a further 100 years of community activities in the Hut.
